Anoushka Shankar, born 9 June 1981, is a British-American sitar player and composer of Indian heritage. Known for her innovative blend of classical and contemporary music, she works across acoustic and electronic styles. Shankar has released seven solo albums since her 1998 debut and has collaborated with a diverse range of artists, including Karsh Kale and her father Ravi Shankar. A multiple Grammy nominee, she was the first Indian-origin musician to perform live and present at the Grammy Awards.
