Kevin's Limiter is a plug-in from Make Believe Studios and Metric Halo for anyone who ever bought a limiter and wished they knew how to use it properly. Its settings were designed by Kevin McCombs, whose credits include A Day to Remember, Sueco, Papa Roach, Dreamers, 5 Seconds of Summer and The Devil Wears Prada, and the result is a particularly versatile fixed function limiter.

How It Works

There is nothing to dial in: the limiter is already set to the right settings and it does not do anything else. In the words of the manual, it is not the cleanest, but it just sounds great, and it is either off or on. The plug-in works with zero latency, the window size is adjustable, and the MH Preset Manager provides cross-platform presets, A/B registers with a blend control and built-in undo/redo.

Kevin's Limiter is the right choice for producers and mix engineers who want a limiter sound from a working mixer without learning threshold, release and ceiling settings first. It works in Pro Tools, Logic, Studio One, Nuendo and other major DAWs, and it is also supported in Metric Halo MIO Console. It runs as a 64-bit AU, VST2, VST3 or AAX plug-in on Mac OS X 10.10 or newer (Intel or Apple Silicon) and as VST or AAX on Windows 7 or newer; licensing uses an iLok.com account with two activations, and an iLok dongle is optional.
