Death Angel is a thrash metal band from Daly City, California, known as one of the standout acts of the Bay Area metal scene. Formed in 1982, they are recognized as leaders of the genre’s second wave and are often mentioned alongside the major thrash bands of the 1980s. After breaking through with the albums The Ultra-Violence and Frolic Through the Park, Death Angel signed with Geffen Records and released Act III before a hiatus in 1991 following a serious tour accident. The band reformed in 2001 and has since released several acclaimed albums, including the Grammy-nominated Humanicide in 2019. Guitarist Rob Cavestany has been the sole constant member, with vocalist Mark Osegueda present on all studio recordings since 1984. Death Angel continues to tour and record, with a new album expected in 2025, and is known for their energetic live shows, including regular Christmas concerts.
