TC Electronic Flashback 2 X4 Delay Pedal — Flagship Multi-Mode Delay With Looper

The TC Electronic Flashback 2 X4 is TC's flagship delay pedal, expanding the compact Flashback 2 into a wider floor unit with three footswitches, a dedicated Tap switch, and a 40-second looper. Built around 10 delay types and 6 TonePrint slots, this model covers tape, analog, crystal, and digital delay flavors, with the Crystal algorithm doubling as a reverb-flavored shimmer texture. Stereo I/O and analog-dry-through preserve the dry signal in pure analog form.

What Sets This Delay Apart

Three pressure-sensitive MASH footswitches give this pedal its expressive edge, letting players swell feedback, modulate repeats, or shift parameters by varying foot pressure. The Crystal algorithm, built around TC's polyphonic octave engine from the SUB 'N' UP Octaver, produces an otherworldly shimmer. A dedicated Tap tempo switch syncs all presets to the band in about two seconds.

Delay Engine and Algorithms

The delay engine combines studio-grade algorithms into a single pedal.

• Delay Types: 10 — Crystal, Analog, Tape, 2290 digital, plus dual delay and reverse modes
• Note Subdivisions: 10 presets plus 1 custom — for rhythmic delay patterns
• TonePrint Slots: 6 — loadable via the free TonePrint app through the guitar pickup

Controls, Presets, and Connectivity

Three MASH footswitches double as preset selectors and expression controllers.

• MASH Footswitches: 3 pressure-sensitive — each controls up to 3 parameters via foot pressure
• Preset Banks: 2 banks of 3 presets — 6 stored delay tones on speed dial
• I/O: Stereo 1/4" in/out, MIDI in, expression pedal input — supports stereo rigs and MIDI tempo lock

Looper, Bypass, and Physical Specs

A built-in 40-second looper sits alongside the delay engine.

• Looper Length: 40 seconds — with Record, Play/Pause, Play Once, and Undo/Redo
• Bypass Modes: True Bypass or Buffered Bypass — switchable, with Kill-Dry on/off and Analog-Dry-Through
• Power: 9V DC, 300 mA — standard pedalboard power supply compatible
• Weight: 1.54 kg — solid metal chassis for stage durability
