Sela D Kurd Black Keeltrumm

Sela Melody Tongue Drum 14" D Kurd Black — Warm Steel Tones for Meditation and Music

The Sela Melody Tongue Drum 14" D Kurd Black is a medium-sized steel tongue drum with nine tone fields and a diameter of just under 36 centimetres. Tuned to the popular D Kurd scale, it produces warm, long-lasting, soothing sounds suited to relaxation, sound therapy, and intuitive music-making. Because every note belongs to the same D minor scale, players cannot hit a wrong note — every combination sounds harmonious. Matte black finish keeps the SE-380 understated anywhere it sits.

What Sets the SE-380 Apart

Each tongue on the 14" model is cut into the steel body with multiple slits, giving the SE-380 a fuller, more resonant voice than smaller Melody drums. Note labels are engraved directly into the metal rather than printed on stickers, so they will not wear off after years of play. A protective rubber ring runs around the outer edge, and rubber feet on the base keep the drum stable and silent on any surface.

Construction and Tuning — Built Around D Kurd

The D Kurd layout centres on a D3 root note, with the remaining tones arranged so chords sit next to each other on the drum surface. This makes it easy to play harmonies by hand, even without prior musical training.

• Tuning: D Kurd (D minor) — the most widely used handpan-style scale, with a calm, meditative character
• Tones: D3, A3, Bb3, C4, D4, E4, F4, G4, A4 — nine fields spanning more than one octave
• Material: Steel with a matte black finish and engraved note labels
• You benefit from a 14 inches / approx. 36 cm diameter, which is the largest size in the Melody range and provides deeper bass response than 10" models.

Who Should Play the SE-380

The SE-380 is the right choice for beginners, sound therapists, yoga teachers, and intuitive players who want a forgiving instrument that always sounds musical. Its nine-tone layout supports varied melodies without overwhelming first-time players, and the included mallets and padded backpack bag make it easy to take to sessions, classes, or retreats.
