Universal Audio UAD Emperical Labs FATSO Tape Simulator (Digitaalne toode)

Analog Tape Warmth in One Plug-In

The UAD Empirical Labs FATSO Tape Simulator brings the warm, punchy sound of analog tape and classic compression into any DAW. Developed with Empirical Labs founder Dave Derr, it captures the character that shaped records by AC/DC, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden. One insert gives you tape saturation, transformer color, and four compression modes together. This plug-in is the right choice for producers who want authentic analog character without leaving their computer.

What Makes It Different

Most saturation plug-ins model one circuit, but the FATSO models how its Tranny, Warmth, and compressor stages interact inside the original hardware. FATSO Sr adds variable transformer saturation and a sidechain filter beyond the hardware.

Who Should Use It

The FATSO is built for producers, mix engineers, and home studio musicians who want analog tape sound without a real tape machine. It shines on drum and mix buses, where the Buss mode gently glues tracks together. Beginners will love how quickly it improves a rough mix, while experienced engineers can dig into FATSO Sr for finer control. It runs natively on macOS and Windows.
