Gene Clark

Gene Clark

Harold Eugene Clark was an influential American singer-songwriter and a founding member of the Byrds. As the band's main songwriter from 1964 to early 1966, he wrote several of their classic songs, including "I'll Feel a Whole Lot Better," "Eight Miles High," "Set You Free This Time," and "She Don't Care About Time." While his solo career did not bring him major commercial success, Clark was a key figure in shaping the sounds of folk rock, country rock, psychedelic rock, and alternative country. In 1991, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Byrds.
