Crown XLI800 Power Amplifier — Affordable Workhorse for Live Sound

The Crown XLI800 is a two-channel Class-AB power amplifier engineered for musicians, DJs, houses of worship, and small-to-medium live venues. Delivering 300W per channel at 4 ohms and 600W in bridged-mono mode, this rackmount amp brings decades of amplifier design experience to a budget-friendly price point. This model is the right choice for working performers and small venues who need reliable, no-frills power amplification with flexible I/O.

Flexible I/O and Operating Modes

What separates this amplifier from similarly priced competitors is its combination of professional and consumer-friendly connections on a single chassis. Electronically balanced XLR inputs sit alongside unbalanced RCA jacks, while the output panel accepts both Speakon NL4 connectors and traditional binding posts. User-selectable input sensitivity (0.775V or 1.4V) lets operators match the amp to a wide range of mixers and source devices.

Technical Parameters — Power, Signal, and Build

The XLI800's specifications focus on clean, reliable output rather than DSP-driven processing. A wide frequency response and high signal-to-noise ratio keep the signal transparent, while the high damping factor helps control cone movement in connected speakers.

• Power Output: 2x 300 W at 4 Ω, 2x 200 W at 8 Ω, 600 W bridged mono at 8 Ω — covers most small-to-mid PA configurations
• Frequency Response: 20 Hz - 20 kHz (+0/-1 dB at 1 W) — full-range coverage for music and speech
• Signal-to-Noise Ratio: >100 dB (A-weighted) — quiet operation between sets
• With a damping factor of >200 (8 Ω, 10 Hz - 400 Hz), the unit ensures tight speaker control for clean bass.
• Inputs/Outputs: XLR and RCA inputs; Speakon NL4 and binding post outputs — flexible system integration

Who this equipment is built for

It is the right choice for mobile DJs, small bands, karaoke hosts, and house-of-worship tech teams who need dependable power amplification without DSP complexity. XLR/RCA inputs and Speakon/binding post outputs integrate easily into mixed inventories of speakers and mixers. The 2U rackmount form factor and 11.4 kg weight also make it practical for transport in mobile rigs and small touring setups.
