Cordoba C1M Natural Matte Classical Guitar — Spanish-Tradition Nylon-String for Beginners

The Cordoba C1M Natural Matte is a full-size 4/4 classical guitar built as an entry point into nylon-string playing. Part of the Protégé line, this model targets students and self-taught beginners. A spruce top with mahogany back and sides gives a clear, balanced voice, while the matte polyurethane finish and slim C-shape neck keep practice sessions comfortable.

What Sets the C1M Apart in the Beginner Classical Segment

Two details lift this model above typical entry-level nylon-strings. Uncommon on classical guitars, the dual-action truss rod lets the owner correct neck relief as the instrument settles. The 6-fan top bracing with a treble bar is a Spanish-inspired structural choice that adds clarity to the high strings. Factory-installed Savarez Cristal Corum High Tension 500CJ strings mean it ships ready to play.

Tonewoods & Body Geometry — The Acoustic Foundation

A spruce top with mahogany back and sides defines the acoustic character of this model. The layered construction produces articulate trebles and warm, controlled bass response.

• Spruce is utilized for the top to provide a bright, articulate response with strong fundamental projection.
• Back & Sides: Mahogany — warm character that balances the spruce top's clarity
• Lower Bout Width: 371 mm — gives the lower strings room to resonate

Neck Profile & Scale — Built for Comfortable Learning

Neck dimensions determine how easily a beginner can form barre chords and reach upper-position notes. The slim C-shape profile with a 52 mm nut width sits comfortably between traditional classical and modern hybrid feel.

• Scale Length: 650 mm — standard classical tension for proper right-hand technique
• Nut Width: 52 mm — wide enough for classical fingering, narrow enough for younger hands
• Fretboard: Rosewood — smooth feel under the fingertips

Hardware, Bracing & Strings — Details That Outlast the Price Tag

Hardware choices on a student guitar affect tuning stability and long-term maintenance. Gold tuning machines, a dual-action truss rod, and a traditional mosaic rosette signal the Spanish-design heritage of the maker.

• Top Bracing: 6 Fan with Treble Bar — Spanish-inspired pattern supporting the top while letting trebles speak
• Strings: Savarez Cristal Corum High Tension 500CJ — premium nylon set installed from the factory
• Truss Rod: Dual Action — adjustable in both directions for lifetime neck stability

Who Should Buy This Instrument

The C1M is the right choice for beginners, students, and classroom programs that need an affordable full-size classical guitar with serious build details. It suits younger players moving into their first proper instrument, adult learners starting lessons, and parents outfitting a school music program on a tight budget.

Cordoba and the Protégé Line — Spanish Heritage, Student-Friendly Design

Cordoba draws on generations of Spanish guitar-making tradition, and the Protégé line was created to bring that heritage into the entry-level price tier. This instrument is the foundational model in that range, designed to give students a great-sounding first nylon-string guitar.
