AST4 is a 4-zone network player (streamer) that allows you to play Internet radio, podcasts and music files from local or network (NAS) storage to an existing audio setup. Each zone also contains a separate USB/MP3 player, has a stereo line output (2x RCA) and a digital optical output (Toslink). The device also includes 1x stereo AUX input (2x RCA), 1x stereo Line input (2x RCA) and 1x digital optical input (Toslink). It is controlled using the application AUDIOCAST or SMART SONIX, etc.., which you can download for free in the relevant online store.
The player streams music content directly. It contacts the music source directly (also on the Internet) based on a command from the streaming application. Streaming happens directly from the music source to the player, and the application itself is no longer needed (it can be turned off).
After connecting to a LAN or Wi-Fi network, you get a comprehensive multiroom sound system. You can then see all 4 players at once in the streaming app. And you choose what and where to stream.
In multiroom use, it is possible to operate in SOLO mode (different music to different devices) or MULTI (selected devices are mutually content-synchronized).
The streamer provides audiophile (24-bit/192kHz DAC) sound quality and supports Spotify, Napster, iTunes or iHeartRadio and can also be used with Alexa to play other music sources or internet radio.
