Avantone Pro Planar II

Avantone Pro Planar the II Black are extremely accurate Hi-End headphones for studio and demanding listening. They have an extended frequency range, high dynamics, low distortion, exceptional sensitivity and low input impedance. They are thus ideal for studio post-production work and uncompromising high-end Hi-End listening.

  • Planar converters
  • Extended frequency range
  • Extraordinary dynamics and minimal distortion
  • Symmetrical neodymium magnets
  • Lightweight construction
  • Detachable noiseless cable
  • Black colour
  • Ecological bag with cable cover

The extraordinary detail, precision, superior dynamics and phase response of the Planar the II headphones lies in the planar transducers, which work on a different principle than the classic dynamic headphone transducers. Thus, the headphones are suitable for the studio for recording and post-production, or for extremely demanding and precise Hi-End listening.

Due to the matrix of neodymium magnets, planar transducers act symmetrically over the entire membrane surface. Thus, you can achieve dense and dynamic bass as well as natural transparent highs at all volumes with practically zero distortion. Among other things, the frequency range that the headphones naturally deliver will be greatly expanded. Your listening will receive a third dimension of sound that you have never heard before.

So that you don't miss any detail of your mixes or listening, you deserve exceptional audiophile quality reproduction. The Planar the II headphones will reliably offer it to you. Mechanical design - The new Planar the II headphones are lighter than their predecessors thanks to an innovative design. But they remain just as comfortable even during long mixing or listening sessions.

  • Construction - The Planar the II utilizes a perfectly tuned architecture with an open enclosure. Thus, a large increase in pressure in the small space of the headphones is eliminated, which causes distortion and acoustic resonance typical of closed headphones. At the same time, the frequency characteristic in its entire range is greatly compared.
  • Detachable noise-free cable - The headphones include a high-quality, detachable, noise-free cable with a TYRS 3.5 mm connector, two meters long. For headphones, you can connect it to any earbud so that it interferes with your work as little as possible.
  • Ergonomic elegant bag - In the package you will also find an ecological shoulder bag in which you can easily and safely carry the headphones wherever you need them. The bag also has space for your accessories and a detachable cable sleeve.

Properties:
  • High-resolution planar driver technology overcomes typical dynamic headphone designs to deliver uncompromising, natural sound
  • Low distortion, fast response and neutral frequency response for greater accuracy and precision when monitoring and mixing
  • Open shell design and low weight for greater comfort even during long-term use
  • The low impedance and amplifier requirements are ideal for use by Hi-End technology, monitor controllers, sound cards, hi-fi systems or mobile devices.
  • Extremely wide frequency response from 30 Hz to 30 kHz in a low tolerance band
  • High-quality, detachable, noise-free cable with 3.5 mm TRS connectors, length 2 m
  • Parallel wired, robust dual input connectors - one on each earpiece

Sounds identical to the original Planar I but improves on comfort and build quality. 60g lighter at 511g, new 2m cable that's not microphonic and is actually pretty solid, and the headband mounting mechanism is now made of metal instead of rubber-plastic while also having a more clever attachment system so you can rotate the suspension strap freely resulting in no more hotspot on top of the head like on the Planar I where the leather strap was fixed in a straight angle. Sound-wise, just like the original, midrange-oriented with a bit dark but very smooth and linear treble, excellent imaging and solid soundstage, great dynamics and solid detail. Still quite heavy and clampy, and still quite dark, but very enjoyable. TLDR: spacious and engaging but dark and heavy. My favorite feature of them is imaging. I guess that's why they're marketed for mixing.
