The Savage Gear circle is complete – now you can add reels from your favourite predator fishing brand to your tackle armoury.

When we decided to create the first ever range of Savage Gear reels, we knew it wasn’t going to be a small job. To create quality reels that we were happy to put the Savage Gear logo on, we had to go back to the drawing board and start from scratch to make sure everything was of the highest standards. The whole project has taken more than two years and represents the biggest investment in tooling in the whole history of the brand – no corners were cut, nothing was bought ‘off the shelf’, we really went the extra mile and then some!

More important than the money we invested in this range, is the passion. An elite team of experienced anglers from Europe and the USA worked extensively on the input for these reels – from the very initial idea, to testing the finished collection. We didn’t just decide what reels we should make and what features they should have, we sought to create reels that answer the demands of anglers of all different abilities – every step of the way, these truly are reels made by anglers for anglers.

The range includes four freshwater spinning reel series and two saltwater reel series – some are created for fast spinning, while others have more traditional gear ratios. Everywhere you look, these reels ooze quality and innovation. Perhaps the best ex- ample of that is our proprietary Dura Grease, which has been completely custom made and developed for Savage Gear reels. Unlike traditional reel greases, Dura Grease performs consistently in temperatures between -30 °C to 160 °C and offers a much better stickiness ensuring that the gears are always coated with a layer of it, even when touching. This hugely improves corrosion resistance, smoothness and makes the internals of the reel much more durable. It’s also totally biodegradable.

Elsewhere we use three different types of Torque - shift gearing made from zinc, CNC aluminium or CNC brass and three different types of Friction Control Drag systems made from either felt, carbon fibre or a fibreglass and carbon blend. Other inno- vations include our Temperature Controlled System to keep the drag system cool, Hydro Seals to protect against water and debris ingress, a Vantage Spring System to provide a more consistent pressure for the drag system and so much more.
