Ibanez AUP10N-OPN Guitalele — Piccolo Six-String with Guitar Feel

The Ibanez AUP10N-OPN is a six-string piccolo guitalele tuned A–E–C–G–D–A, sitting between a tenor ukulele and a short-scale classical guitar. Its AU tenor chambered body keeps the instrument compact for travel, while the Spruce top and Solid Paulownia back and sides deliver a clear nylon-string voice. The Open Pore Natural finish keeps the weight down for long sessions on the sofa or around a campfire. Players wanting a portable nylon-string instrument with guitar-like spacing will find this model a practical answer.

Stereo Sound Port System and Chambered Construction

What separates this guitalele from typical travel acoustics is the dual side sound ports that direct tone toward the player's ear instead of only outward. The chambered body is routed from a single solid block, then capped with a thin Spruce top, producing a balanced response with surprising note definition for such a small instrument. The Purpleheart double-hole bridge makes string changes faster and helps maintain correct tension for better tuning stability.

Scale, Neck, and Body — Sized for Travel, Spaced for Guitarists

The compact dimensions and 432 mm scale give the AUP10N a guitalele character, while the 48 mm nut width and 19 frets keep it familiar to anyone coming from classical guitar. The Okoume neck is dowel-reinforced for stability, and the Purpleheart fretboard adds a bright attack under the fingers.

• Scale Length: 432 mm — short enough for couch play, long enough for real chord shapes
• Nut Width: 48 mm — wider than typical ukulele necks
• Fretboard Radius: 400 mm — flatter feel that suits nylon-string fingerstyle and chord work
• Body Length: 300 mm (11 13/16") — fits in a backpack or overhead bin
• The factory-fitted Ibanez ICLS6NT (.0280–.043) nylon strings are specifically tuned to A–E–C–G–D–A.

Travelers, Couch Players, and Guitarists Who Want a Smaller Nylon Companion

The AUP10N-OPN is the right choice for guitarists who want a portable nylon-string companion for travel, late-night practice, or songwriting on the sofa. Its 48 mm nut and 19 frets make it approachable for classical players, while the small body and low volume suit apartment dwellers and campfire strummers. Beginners who find a full-size classical too bulky will appreciate the lighter Okoume neck and the included gig bag. A hybrid construction bridges the gap between ukulele portability and guitar feel.
